 We all know cloth masks don't work – even if actually wear them. For instance, watch any carpenter blowing out wood dust through his mask. Or this vigilant man in a pool (hope he doesn't go snorkeling with that thing). Neither can masks waterproof decks! The problem is, most masks don't have a tight seal. The basic process is a simple 6 level system:

1) Metal lathe 

2) Polymer modified concrete 

3) Fiberglass matting and bonder (the really effective mask!)

4) Another skim coat layer of concrete 

5) Your choice of texture

6) Two coats of waterproof paint sealer

This project had a few fun twists. Literally, we remodeled this twisting stairway and gave it a fresh deck coating.
