Renewing Decks in Newport Beach

The crew at Prestige headed out to Newport Beach in December 2021 to tackle the problem of a severely damaged deck. Renewing decks is what we do. You get better than new with Prestige Deck Coating.

The Need

As you can see from the picture, this balcony structure was in sorry shape. Our skilled waterproofing experts can repair or completely replace any structural damage. This is key, because renewing decks right consists of a solid foundation. Due to the wood rot, this deck needed a full rebuild of its railing and glass. Lastly, and most importantly, the key of renewing decks like this is our time tested 6 level waterproofing system.

The Approach

The damage was so invasive that we had to replace certain portions of the framing. In addition, we treated the wood to inhibit mold and water seepage. This included removing and replacing the plywood over the structural beams. We secured the new plywood sheets to insure a solid flooring for the next steps of our deck coating system.

Next, we removed the glass railing and rebuilt the posts. This set the stage for our custom 6 level deck waterproofing system. Our Crete System is where our ability for renewing decks shines. Here is a breakdown:

  1. Metal lathe. This level is for strengthening of the sub-floor and flex.
  2. Polymer modified concrete. Providing strength and rigidity to the deck surface, this prepares for the most important part of the system.
  3. Fiberglass and resin (see photo). Our fiberglass layer sets us apart from other systems. As you would imagine, this makes the decking waterproof. This is why we do what we do.
  4. Skim coat of concrete. This goes directly over the fiberglass layer. This "sandwich" provides a seal and strength.
  5. Texture coat. Choose your type of texture, for grip and aesthetics.
  6. Concrete fortified paint sealer. We apply two coats of waterproof paint to seal the deal.

The Result

Renewing decks right means all of these things. Hire a company that does not skip these steps and you will have decking that last for years. With Prestige, you even have the option to purchase a ten-year warranty. Call us today for a free onsite estimate!

Flexing Our Waterproof Muscles in Brea

Sometimes, on a deck waterproofing project, you have to call on the big guns to flex their muscles.

Recently, Prestige Deck Coating traveled to sunny Brea to do just that. Indeed, this gorgeous but worn roof deck needed just the right touch, namely, our signature version of the flex system.

What is the Flex System?

We call it the Flex System for two reasons. One, we "flex" with your needs. If your decking is not severely damaged, we don't force an unnecessary project on you. Two, and most importantly, because it allows relatively stable decking surfaces to add a layer of strong flexibility. Think, half of our Crete System. The installation process is as follows:

  1. Install fiberglass matting and adhere with waterproof bonder
  2. Trowel polymer modified concrete mixture
  3. Spray texture style of your choice
  4. Coat with two applications of fortified concrete paint sealer

Thankfully, we were able to place our Flex waterproofing system right on top of the existing concrete decking. Thus, it saves time and money. Basically, any deck surface can be waterproofed.

With the Flex System, we utilize the pre-existing concrete layer to our advantage (and yours).

Note here, what is most important in the diagram that: the fiberglass matting layer that waterproofs the pre-existing concrete deck.

Now look at the aftermath when our flexed muscles squeezed all of the water off this roof decking! Not only could this old deck not resist our brawn, but it turned out looking pretty to boot! Just for you, we add a non-slip texturing of your choice - for aesthetics and durability. If you want to win the war of water versus deck – call Prestige Decking today! Why? We offer up to ten year warranties, have experienced specialists on each job, and use eco-friendly products. If that wasn't powerful enough, we also offer onsite estimates–for free! So then, let us flex our muscles and give you a reliable and beautiful deck for years to come.

Capo Valley Balcony Deck Repair

Recently, we had the pleasure of doing a major balcony deck repair at Capistrano Valley Christian School.

This was a unique combo job. First, 2,000 square feet of total repair from the sub-floor, including beam replacement, and our 7 layer Crete System. Second, an additional 4,000 square feet of coverage using our Flex System.

Balcony Repair–Crushing the Crete

Check out the photos to see the comprehensive nature of this Capo Valley Balcony Deck Repair project. With such an old decking system in place, there is sure to be dry rot and water damage. We not only repaired the dry rot down to the sub-floor, but also installed plywood re-sheeting. In addition, we performed stucco repair and replacement. Lastly, we installed new deck drains to boot! Our

7 layer Crete System fit the bill on this Capo Valley Balcony Deck Repair.

Flexing Our Concrete Hard Muscles In Capo Valley

So, what exactly do we mean? Not only do we lay down the Crete, but we also re-coat existing concrete surfaces.

The Flex System is a fully waterproofed decking system that is applied right over your existing concrete surface.

1) We apply our specially developed polymer modified concrete base
2) After this dries, we roll out fiberglass matting, and paint on bonder for a complete waterproof seal
3) Another skim coat of concrete is smeared across the deck surface
4) A concrete texture coating of your choice is sprayed on with a pneumatic hopper gun
5) We again seal the deck coating with two coats of our epoxy fortified concrete paint

With Prestige Deck Coating, we have got you covered and waterproofed! We strive for three values: customer care, expert installation, and quality products. Offering free customized estimates, we also give frequent updates as top the job progression. Although a Desert Brand certified installer, we have also developed our own products. 10 year warranties are available on our deck waterproofing systems.
